If your business produces, cooks, serves or sells food, then you must comply with food safety legislation. North Lanarkshire Council's Food Safety Team works with local business, offering expert, professional and free advice and support. Use the box on the right to contact us.
What you must do
Register
All food businesses in North Lanarkshire should register with us. If you are a new business, you should register at least three weeks before you start trading. Download a registration form from the box on the right.
Food Hygiene
All food businesses will be subject to Food Hygiene Inspections.
Food Standards
Your compliance with Food Standards legislation is monitored in Food Standards Inspections.
Food Safety Training
Workers who prepare, cook, sell or serve food must have food safety training or be supervised by someone who does. North Lanarkshire Council's Food Safety Service subsidises training courses throughout the area.
Hygiene Export Certificates
Many Countries require an export certificate before they can import food from the UK.
