This award is for businesses that can demonstrate new or sustained success through the application of best practice in marketing and sales resulting in increased sales, turnover, market share and profitability.
Successful businesses in this category will have clearly defined sales and marketing strategies that have achieved high levels of commercial success for the relevant products or services. This may also include the introduction of e-commerce to the business and the development of a company website to reach new audiences. In the case of e-commerce applications, businesses will be judged on how well they use the internet to promote themselves, widen their profile and increase sales.
Factors for success include strong evidence of the sales process throughout the organisation involving customers at all levels, internally and externally; evidence of improving sales and follow-up processes e.g. involve customers in feedback and demonstrate evidence of acting on feedback and a focus on sales training and practice for all. Quality structures should be in place to drive programmes of excellence and quality.
Successful businesses should have a proven track record in customer satisfaction and continued commitment to exceeding customer expectations, recognising and encouraging the contribution from staff when dealing with customers.
