Best Performing Social Enterprise
This award is for the social enterprise that can best demonstrate having made a significant contribution or reinvestment into the business or community in which it operates.
A social enterprise is a “business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profits for shareholders and owners” (DTI 2002).
Entrants will demonstrate commitment to providing social, community or enviromental benefits. They will demonstrate commitment to the growth and success of their business towards achieving planned objectives.
Entrants should also demonstrate their commitment to the provision of employment opportunities and services to communities and/or geographic areas where clear need has been identified.
Application
The entry proccess for 2010 awards is now closed. Winners will be announced at the ceremony on Friday 26th February 2010.
