Routes to Work South Ltd deliver Community Intermediary (CIO) Services on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council. CIO activity is a point of referral to a range of community based vocational training services designed to support people aged 16 and over without jobs access, education, training and employment opportunities.  

 

The CIO service provides one to one key worker support to help participants navigate through employability programme options connecting people with appropriate support to overcome barriers to progression. This service also provides onward referral into specialist agencies qualified to deliver support on issues such as motivational training, affordable childcare, benefits advice and health.

 

CIO services have a particular focus on supporting those living in the most deprived areas of South Lanarkshire (as identified in the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation - SMID 2006) and unemployed people in rural areas. Key Client Groups include: 

 

  • Parents
  • Older workers
  • People facing barriers in returning to work, e.g. childcare, caring responsibilties, transport, etc
  • Workless people
  • People with low or no skills 
  • People recovering from substance misuse
  • People who have overcome mental helath and disability issues
