Lanarkshire.com has a new addition: a business service portal from North Lanarkshire Council.  Conceived and designed as a business ATM, activebusiness offers fast and functional information and a direct route to North Lanarkshire Council's services. 

Activebusiness offers a three-click solution to many business enquiries.  From its homepage, users take a fast route to the council service or business information that they need.  Activebusiness doesn't stop with North Lanarkshire Council's expertise but also contains hyperlinks to specialist sites that provide detailed information, further services or business growth ideas.

North Lanarkshire Council's Convener of Regeneration, Tom Maginnis, believes that activebusiness will be a big hit with local businesses, "This site offers the immediate benefit of fast and convenient access to information and services. More than that, activebusiness is a portal through which local enterprises can explore opportunities to improve and grow their business.  We hope that it will stimulate economic growth and benefit the whole community."

While activebusiness supplies 'must-do information on subjects such as Health & Safety and Planning Legislation, it also offers entrepreneurial support, development opportunities and access to skilled staff and training opportunities.

One of the first developments planned for activebusiness will be to deliver email alerts to business users on key subjects such as building legislation, food safety and even air quality.  Users will be asked to sign up to those alerts which interest them and, in keeping with activebusiness's fast and functional philosophy, will not be sent information to which they have not subscribed.

Lanarkshire's Chamber of Commerce is also ready to seize the benefits of activebusiness. Douglas Millar, chief executive, recognises that the current site is an important starting point. "The real beauty of activebusiness is its flexibility.  It is set up to respond to the needs of local business and, as they engage with it, its tailored services will become increasingly useful to them.  We will work with the council to help our members to get the most out of this new service."
