Lanarkshire is bursting with local wildlife and there are plenty of places to visit to learn more about wildlife. The Falls of Clyde nature reserve covers 59 hectares of land and is home to a variety of wildlife. Warblers and wrens enjoy the woodland and numerous wildflowers. Peregrine falcons, tawny owls and sparrow hawks rule the air. Badgers, foxes and roe deer can be seen and the river is home to otters, dippers, herons and kingfishers.

Lanarkshire is home to 3 local nature reserves. Langlands Moss, Dumbreck Marsh and Perchy Pond are places with special local natural interest, set up to protect nature, and for people to enjoy and appreciate.
